The 4th of July is right around the corner and it may be a good idea to start thinking of the outfit you want to rock. Here at Trendsetters at the U, we like to take advantage of every holiday to express ourselves through our style and this holiday is no exception. Need some outfit inspo for this Independence Day? The Trendsetters are here to help!
I know a lot of folks like to get crazy on the 4th, and I am no exception! I really like to dress for comfort on this holiday because I know I will be outside almost all day, and I will likely be pretty active. I want to be just as comfortable at the start of the day as the end of it – and picking out the perfect outfit can be tricky!
Here in Montana it is usually pretty hot on the 4th, so I opted for a tank-top rather than a t-shirt. This red, lace-up, v-neck top is from Rue 21; and it is so comfy! This is somewhere between a crop-top and a regular length shirt, which makes it perfect for beating that summer heat while still staying warm when it gets dark out.
I opted for some short-shorts because I know I will either be outside in the heat, or near a fire. These shorts are super stretchy, so I don’t have to worry about being uncomfortable like I would be in jean shorts. I got these thrifting so I have no idea where they are from, but seriously, these things are so versatile! If you haven’t gotten yourself a pair of stretchy shorts for the summer, what are you waiting for?
For shoes I chose these sleek, black sandals from Old Navy. Not only do they dress the outfit up a little, but they are also super easy to slip on and off when I want to. They’re comfortable, and classy – the perfect combination.
I decided that I was feeling a little feisty this go-around, so I decided to channel my inner Demi Lovato and break out my white, lace choker. This piece is feminine, while also giving off a very fierce vibe. It can be paired with a dress to class it up, or like with this ensemble, be used to unleash your inner badass.
No ensemble is complete without a bold lip, and for this holiday, I finally got to break out my bright red lipstick. This really is the cherry on top of the whole ensemble, and I would highly suggest rocking this shade for your 4th of July festivities!
Let freedom ring this 4th of July with all the red, white, and blue that you could possible fit into one outfit. The more festive the better, right?
Nothing screams independence of the United States like a swimsuit and shorts that are blue with white stars and red and white stripes. Target has several different types of patriotic swimsuits to pick from that everybody will love. Hurry in to get yours before they run out this weekend! Missoula is lucky to have so many local businesses, so if you are in town stop by The Runners Edge to pick up these classic running shorts.
I love my swimsuit so much and will almost always spend the 4th on the lake; so it was tough for me to pick out a shirt that I would wear. A solid grey tank top will always match whatever I decide to wear for bottoms – whether it’s jean shorts or these festive running shorts.
Keep your feet safe around all those fireworks! Wear closed-toed shoes like this white pair of converse to protect your feet.
For this holiday I chose to keep my hair back with a traditional red bandana. You can do the same by picking up a bandana in any color at Joann Fabrics, Target, or even Wal-Mart. The options are endless!
Have fun discovering new items of clothing to put together this holiday from your closet! Also, don’t forget to put sunscreen on.
1776 no more! Fashion is considered in the celebration of the 4th of July – from laid back lake festivities to formal gatherings. There are many ways to strut the pride of our nation; and it is always a great time to play with the color scheme of the USA and express your individuality as well.
For this Fourth of July ensemble I looked to Rosy the Riveter as inspiration, but decided to take a loose, alternative approach. Instead of the denim-eque patriotism she proudly adorns, I went for a classic revolutionary vibe with my high-waisted shorts from Forever21. This key piece has gold button embellishments with naval imprints strategically placed that are complemented by simple stitching. To draw attention to these shorts, I paired them with a turtle neck cut off from H&M, and strappy black sandals from Apt 9.
To show my patriotic spirit I chose a bandanna like Rosy, but to change it up I tied it around my neck. This option acted as a statement necklace without the weight of huge jewels. As for my hair, I let it go wild to match the free spirited vibe that I enjoy about the holiday.
Whether you’re adorned from head to toe in red, white, and blue-or just a few flag accessories- remember to play it safe, think of the troops, and enjoy time with friends and family.
Independence day, for my family is always a bustling day of work, and then scraping something together in the evening. Oftentimes I find myself running around the most – after kids, feeding people or cooking, finding the fireworks someone lost, etc. So I opt for comfortable, simple outfits that I can wear all day.
My shirt is a long, plaid, button-up tunic I found at Ross. It’s buttoned up most of the way and then the long bottom is tied up. High-waisted shorts compliment my figure and are actually very practical when you’re busy, because you’re not worrying about them sliding down.
My shoes I found at Cracker Barrel in the American Heritage section. They are a rubber, waterproof flat with a pattern of stars and stripes. This was the first time I’d worn them and they were very comfortable!
My hair is in a classic ponytail with my bangs out for ultimate practicality. Eyeliner and mascara with a gold lid was my only makeup. Super simple outfit that is perfect for a busy, patriotic holiday!
How is it already the 4th of July? This summer is going by way too fast, and I’m not sure how to feel about it. Now since my friends and I don’t usually go all-out on the fourth, I decided to go really casual with my outfit – casual enough to not wear black skinny jeans, which is my usual go-to.
Although it’s summer, I wanted to wear something that’s not too hot and not too cool; you never know how the weather will be. I pulled out my new Silver boyfriend style jeans from Maurices. Yes, I know they’re technically for women, but I’m a strong believer that fashion shouldn’t have gender – so why not break the norms a bit? Not to mention, they’re super comfy, and they practically feel like sweatpants, so they’re perfect for a nice casual barbecue.
Next, I threw on my basic black tee from H&M (surprise, surprise). Luckily, just last week I thrifted a basic blue and red flannel, and it’s the perfect fit for such an occasion. Even if it’s too hot outside for layers, it could easily be wrapped around your waist. To keep it nice and casual and cool, I just threw on a pair of Birkenstocks that I could easily kick off because I honestly hate wearing shoes during the summer.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun celebration! Just remember to be mindful of your neighbors, friends, and furry friends as well!
It’s that time of year to pull out the hot dogs, fireworks, and your USA pride! The 4th of July is my favorite holiday, not only because of the fireworks and getting to dress up in red, white, and blue; but also the history that goes along with our Independence day. Being with friends and family, barbecuing and lighting off fireworks late into the night, celebrating our great nation – it’s truly my favorite past time.
I love that when it comes to picking out an outfit for the 4th, you can get as wacky or as classy as you want with it! From wearing American flag fanny packs and shorts, to wearing a red dress with white and blue accessories – you can’t go wrong because we’re all representing the same thing: ‘murica.
This year I decided to represent America with the classics: denim and my converse. On top I’m wearing a jean vest from American Eagle, and underneath that I have a cream, cross-back bralette from the same place. I wear these same shorts every year because they are such a classic! These high-waisted, blue shorts with stars and scalloping at the bottom are from Francesca’s. The scalloping on them is my favorite part! As mentioned above, on my feet are my Chuck Taylor Converse low-top shoes in white. They are so comfortable, so it makes them super easy to wear! In my hair I have a red bandana, and I think my bandana really pulls the outfit together, making it that classic American outfit.
As an immigrant to this fine country (don’t panic, I’m legal) I have quite a fondness for celebrating America. Ya know, because of the American Dream and all that? Therefore, I love the 4th of July. I’m honestly down to dress for almost every occasion, so when it comes to my outfit on this holiday, some red, white and blue is definitely in order!
For this 4th of July inspired look, I’m wearing a pair of overalls which originated from a garage sale, then moved into my closet, then to my costume box and then back into my closet as they became trendy throughout the years. I’m extremely grateful I hung on to these bad boys as I have discovered that I’m the happiest version of myself when I’m wearing overalls. They make me feel like a child again while simultaneously making me feel stylish and cool, so you could say they are basically magic.
Underneath my overalls I am wearing a red, white and blue striped top from Target, which I may or may not have purchased with this photo shoot in mind. I love the playfulness of stripes when paired with overalls, so this combo was really something I was a big fan of when putting this look together.
I’m accessorizing with a red scrunchie to really up the 90’s flair, my gold “Michelle” necklace and am finishing the look off with my white Converse sneakers. These sneakers are ridiculously comfortable, super stylish and American as apple pie.
