5 Cut Up Tee Shirt Ideas

As a fangirl who is obsessed with pro wrestling, my closet is FULL of different tee shirts for all of my favorite wrestlers. Millions of people around the world own the exact same tee shirts, so it has always been my mission to stand out in the crowd and make my look unique, especially when it comes to going to events in stadiums packed with 101,763 screaming fans. So for my fellow fans of ALL genres, whether you have artist, band, or tee shirts for any other fandom, here are 5 unique ideas to help you stand out a little more and how to make your shirt fit your style and personality to a “TEE!”

**Since humans, especially the ladies, are not flat surfaces, I like to put my shirt on before I do any alterations or cutting to make sure it will actually fit once I’m done. I start the very basic snips and cuts, mostly at the starting points, and if I have a non permanent marker or fabric chalk, I’ll line out where I want to make the final cuts, since it’s way easier to take a pair of scissors to the tee shirt when it’s not on your body and you can reach every angle that you need to! Once I figure out a good outline for how I want it to fit my body, I take it off and start cutting!**

1. Rock and Rave

Do you ever get the chance to just go to a rave and dance your heart out like there’s no tomorrow? Me neither! But that doesn’t mean the rest of the world needs to know that! For this look, all you gotta do is start at the bottom of the tee shirt any cut up until you reach the desired length. For me, I always cut up until right before the logo so I don’t ruin the design. Once this is done, you can leave them hanging, tie two together, braid them, or whatever your heart desires. Sleeves? Whatever you like for this particular shirt, it can vary from shirt to shirt depending on how you like to feel when you wear it! You can leave the sleeves, cut them off, make a halter top, cut out a scoop neck, anything! Then add on that dark or neon eyeshadow and some crazy bracelets and you are ready to rave!

2. Off The Shoulder

For me, I LOVE an off the shoulder tee shirt for lounging around in my room, but also doing the complete opposite when going to the gym and pairing it with a super cute sports bra that I wanna show off. When it comes to lounging around and getting ready for the day, an off the shoulder tee is super comfy and won’t make you feel like you’re suffocating by trapping your neck, chest and shoulders. An added bonus would be for when I’m doing my makeup and there’s some fallout of eyeshadow or highlight, whatever. Having less fabric up higher covering my chest and neck means less laundry I have to do to get out the ridiculous colors. The reason it’s perfect for moving around is because it’s less restricting and you are fully free to move your body as you please. All you gotta do is cut starting at the shoulder bone, cutting down to the desired depth, and continuing to the same spot on the opposite shoulder.

 3. Triangle Takeout

If you’re ever in the mood to show a little bit of skin while still maintaining the whole tee shirt look, then this quick and easy trick is the one for you! Super easy and super simple, all you have to do is make a cut right below the neckline, and make the V as deep as you desire and Viola! You’ve got yourself a cute little pop showing to show off your spunk and show some contrast from your typical tee shirt.

 4. Tied in the Front or Back Crop Top

It a very common occurrence when creating a crop top out of a tee shirt that you get some weird flare out at the bottom. Cutting one little slit in the middle of the front, back, or even at the sides and tying it back together is a quick and easy fix to this problem. For me, this is my personal favorite; I am a lover of crop tops! I have some scars on my stomach from major surgeries and instead of hiding them, I flaunt them! Pair this with your favorite pair of high waisted jeans or leggings and a flannel if it’s cold, and you’re ready for the day!

 5. Classic Cut Up

This is the most common one that you’ll see around and this is the look that started it all; cutting the shirt that is too big, bulky, and basic up the sides, cut horizontally into strips and tie these strips back together to pull it in tight and show off those curves instead of looking like a box. There’s nothing wrong with looking like a box or wearing an oversized tee shirt, but when you have too many and want some variety, this was the way to go for the girls in the middle school locker room.
