The trendsetters are excited to start the semester with a summer themed shoot! Today we are reminiscing about our favorite pieces of clothing we collected over the summer and fell in love with.
it’s always fun to dress up for summer. This summer has become one of my favorite seasons. Vacation time, icecream and a beautiful summer sunshine with anything to wear.
I love to either go extra or simple in summer but since I love to be extra for everything, but I went with this simple look. And with an outfit is basic, it’s hard to stand out but sometimes i like to change it up and go for a simple look if I chose to. For this shoot I’ve decided to go extra, But what’s amazing with fashion is that you really get to express your style using different styles, accessories and makeup to show off who you are.
For my outfit this shoot I am wearing a cute white top with a floral cardigan and plain jeans all from forever21 and the boot heels was from H&M.
In summer I love to switch up my style but for this one I wanted to make it classy and and wear bright colors so it brings out the color in me. But lately I’ve been obsessed with jewelry so I decided to add a cute crystal choker I’ve got from icing.
For my makeup, I went all extra I’ve did contouring to bring out my cheekbones, a warm gold/pink eye shadow blend to bring out my dark brown eyes and also a matte color lipstick from Sephora.
This summer I was absolutely “Summer lovin’” my denim skirt! I haven’t had one in my wardrobe since elementary school, and it felt like a piece of me was missing from my closet. Finding this one at TJ Maxx for $7 just made me fall in love all over again!! If you saw me at any point this summer, odds are I was at the baseball fields wearing it paired with some sort of red, white, and blue accents.
It’s so good to be back! I hope you all had an amazing summer, I know mine was a blast. I’m here in Missoula year-round now, I moved into my own apartment and got to enjoy a Missoula Summer (shameless self-plug for my upcoming individual post 😉 ).
I cheated a little bit on the theme of this shoot because almost all of these items are new for me! I started working at Olive + Iron this summer, and I got bunches of cute new clothes. This lacy white tank and the snakeskin high tops are both from Olive + Iron, and I can’t stop wearing them (Bonus points if you can find out which previous Trendsetter wore this top for a shoot last year!). These shorts are from H&M, and they are the item I’m most excited about, I got them on sale for $6. You probably can’t tell, but there is a massive hole in the bottom of one of the pockets. I’ve lost my fair share of bobby pins because of this pocket, but it’s all been worth it, I’m totally in love with these shorts. I’ve always had such a hard time finding flowy shorts that actually fit me right, so I’m gonna call this a success!
Hi lovely UM students, welcome back to another semester in the most beautiful state! This year, I was fortunate enough to spend my summer traveling through the west coast and Europe, where there was no shortage of shopping (trust me!!). After all of my adventures around the globe, it is so difficult to choose my favorite piece that I picked up! But I know for sure one of my favorite pieces I acquired was the gorgeous black and white jacket I am wearing, which I bought in Munich, Germany at New Yorker. Now I know it is odd to buy a jacket in summer, but Fall has always been my favorite season and I just couldn’t wait for the apple cider, pumpkin patches, and cozy days. (I always seem to be dreaming of this season…) This jacket is the perfect blend of a simple but staple piece while still looking dressed up in the colder months when all you want to do is bundle up in an oversized sweater. Staple pieces are key for my wardrobe. The black and white pattern pairs well with Fall colors like burnt orange, yellow, burgundy, brown, etc. and will compliment with beautiful Montana and all of its changing leaves and chilly days. Sending you all happy thoughts and well wishes this semester!
Summer is mostly everyone’s favorite season, you got the cold drinks, the 100 degrees weather, the BBQ and be on a great 3 month vacation in different areas.
My summer has been my favorite season and so far it has been great It’s been filled with camping, walkboarding, fishing but my favorite has been jet skiing. Also going to the fair with friends and light up the fireworks during the Fourth of July, and just in general it is a 3 months stress free.
During summer I would normally wear something either dresses, short, or just wear my swimsuits, but most of the time I would like to either dress up or wear something casual like my red shirt from Victoria secret and my white pants from Hollister that are ripped knees jeans. To top it all off I wore my black sperrys that you could wear on boat for the summer or just casually wear it during camping. I picked this particular favorite summer outfit because of the vibrant colors it gives during the summer and it wouldn’t keep you hot because it’s a nice flowy long sleeve shirt that way I wouldn’t sweat much.
Outfits and style can be changes over the season. In cold weather we wear sweaters, jacket and others warm clothes to make our body warm, but we also wants to keep it Look stylish.
On the other hand, when it’s come to summer time, we will we try to look as nice as we can because we have so many chance to wear cute outfits at this time. Whether we want wear skirt, tank top with short, Overalls, this time is the best ever to look classy. This summer have been spend my time in Portland and what I got to wear a lot is my overalls, shorts and simple shirt and t-shirt. Also I always bring different kind of bags, depence on what outfits I wear at that time to make it more stylish. I really love to wear short because it easy for me to move when I go around the city in Portland. As you can see in this picture, this is how I look when it’s come to summer time and this style that I picked from my Summer 2018. Oh yeah, I don’t really spend much money to buy my outfits. Most of my Outfits over the summer are from H&M, Forever 21 and Thrifted store. For this shoot, both my Shirt and Shorts I got from GoodWill Missoula. They are just so cheap and easy to wear on Summer time. For my shoes they are from Rue 21 Missoula as well. Last one is my favorite Waist Bag, I got from Ross. Isn’t it cute? anyways, I really love this style.
I don’t know about you guys but I am NOT ready for this summer to end, all my cute clothes need the warmth! I spent this summer in my hometown, Seattle, and that means my summer was filled with shopping (went pretty much every day no joke). So of course, I couldn’t just pick one favorite piece from this summer and luckily my favorite items just so happened to go together and be one of my favorite looks. That being said a graphic tee and some sort of fun pant is my go to! This graphic tee is from Zara, it says “sometimes young minds overflow” …kind of relatable? The bold colors on top of a simple tee make this shirt go with just about anything, by far my most complimented piece in my closet from this summer.
Moving on, can we talk about this skirt?! I picked up this goodie in the sale section at Urban Outfitters in San Diego. Anyone that knows me knows that yellow is my favorite color and has been a trendy color for a while now. Not only is the color amazing but I love the zipper in the front which gives it a little edge
Last but not least these shoes, I found them at buffalo exchange (my go to store in Seattle) for only $30! And they’re originally from All Saints, and for anyone that does know what that is it is pricey. Platform shoes are my favorite kind of shoe these days, they bring a little more character to a basic sneaker without going to overboard.
Well there you have it, all my favorite summer pieces in one outfit. Sad to see the sunshine go but excited for all the new Fall finds!
This summer, I was obsessed with lots of 90’s inspired looks. With this in mind, my favorite item that I picked up are a perfect pair of vintage shorts. I thrifted them from Divine Trash, which is a rare win for me, since I am the worst at thrift shopping. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wear them everyday… They went with anything, I especially loved wearing my all white Air Force 1’s with them! If you have trouble thrift shopping, I recommend going on a day that you have lots of time and patience. Sometimes it takes a hot minute to find your thrifted treasure, but it’s always so worth it!
I chose these shorts because they are different from anything else I own. I was drawn to the pastel, floral pattern because it looked very vintage and beautiful. I found these in the vintage section at Betty’s Divine for like $8 and thought they would be the perfect item to add to my summer clothes.
In general, summer tends to be my least favorite part of the year. I’m far away from friends, the heat makes me want to die, and work is exhausting. However, this summer I was on a mission to not let this stop me on my trail to self discovery. I have been doing quite a bit of thinking in regards to eco friendly and sustainable fashion. Although most of my wardrobe is thrifted, I am on occasion a person who grabs cheap stuff here and there from large companies.
This summer I was focused on the idea of buying a couple of pieces that I LOVE instead of buying a bunch of cute pieces I will give away come next summer. While doing my research I found a website called Reformation that is an eco friendly and sustainable source of fashion. Many of the products are made out of deadstock or vintage fabrics, and although they can be pricey I like to consider pieces like this as an investment. This is where the dress I’m wearing is from.
It encompases the bright and sunny part of the year while also allowing a little splash of the 90’s in with the Gwyneth Paltrow circa red carpet cut of the dress. I can just picture myself sipping ice tea on my porch before my date with Brad Pitt while wearing this dress. I decided to pair this dress with a simple wishbone necklace my mother gave me years ago. My finishing touches were my cherry red vegan Doc Martens in the oxford style. I accompanied this with a blushy and dewy makeup look and was ready to go. The dress, by far, was my favorite piece of clothing I picked up over the summer.
It’s fun to wear a cute floral dress or a skirt on a hot Summer day but quite frankly it just isn’t practical because if you’re anything like me Summer is playtime, and the last thing you want is a cute outfit excluding you from jumping on the back of a moped or fearlessly strolling downtown on a windy afternoon. That is why I always aim to incorporate practicality into my OOTD’s.
This summer I lived for anything denim. My go-to, however, were these denim high-waisted Levi’s paired with a crop-top or a bodysuit. I thrifted these Levi’s two summers back at a local second-hand store, and since have paired them in a series of combinations from dressing them up to dressing them down. I usually cuff the bottoms in order to add some dimension to the straight leg which can be quite plain at times especially if you are aiming for a dressier look. As for a top, I almost always will opt for a form fitting/flattering blouse that will contrast the looseness of the jeans. A pair of heels or flats create length and add a sense of command to the final look. I am wearing a chunky pair of brown Dansko heels, they are so comfortable and easy to walk in.
This outfit is perfect for a night when you want to look effortlessly cute and trendy, but don’t want to worry about the wind blowing your skirt up or an outfit change in the case that your night turns a little more adventurous.
