The air is getting crisper, drinks are getting hotter, and scarves, hats and boots are making appearances all over the University of Montana campus. Fall is in full swing and I think the Trendsetters, despite their different styles, can all agree that this is one of their favorite times of year. From casual and cozy, to layered chic, the Trendsetters are here to provide some fall fashion inspiration.
So it’s officially fall, and with the leaves changing the weather gets colder and crisper. For this fall inspired shoot, I decided to go with a casual look, but incorporated pieces in so if you wanted to dress up the look a little more, you could!
For this outfit, started off pretty basic essentials that anyone has in their closet: a white flowy, long sleeve and a pair of jeans. My shirt is from Junky Trunk Boutique, and I think it’s a fantastic basic tee for day to day fall activities (it’s also really soft!) My light washed jeans are from Q-Rue and are super comfortable and conform to you completely. I chose jeans that didn’t have rips in them for a more put together look!
To me, a major fall staple is a plaid blanket scarf! And I just added this one from Forever 21 which is super cozy and will be sure to keep you warm. I tied the ends together to make it an infinity scarf, because I like the way that it drapes down. My green army jacket is from Forever 21 as well and it ties in the green from the plaid scarf into the outfit, plus it’s great to add shape because the waist cinches in. Lastly, my brown booties are from Charming Charlie’s; the color is perfect because it just warms the whole look up!
For accessories and beauty, I just added a rose gold watch from Aeropostale and kept my hair curled and down. My makeup was just kept neutral, but I used warm colors that inspired me of fall and also used a darker lip gloss!
Jumping into autumn the right way is important. Layers are a must! Colors to match the leaves also make the season ever more present in our style. A casual look also adds to the ideas of warmth and comfort associated with fall and its many festivities.
I chose to wear some faux brown leather boots from Target that add warmth and class to any look. Then, I opted for an American-style staple with Levi blue jeans with a straight fit and tapered ends: both comfortable and fashionable.
My shirt is a flannel from American Eagle that is a tasteful mixture of red, orange and green plaid perfectly mirroring the main colors of fall. Finally, to add the layer of warmth necessary to get through, I wore my Gap wool-blend sweater in an olive green shade. This comfortable and practical blend of affordable and hip streetwear has me falling for fall.
Fall fashion is the best fashion in my opinion. The warm colors, the layers, and the constant trips to Starbucks are just some of the things that I love most about fall. For my outfit, I wanted to give a good example of layering. The first layer is a blue flannel. You can see the collar peeping out from my green H&M sweater. On top of the sweater is my cream vest with gold zippers. It keeps the color scheme from being too dark. The jacket that I’m wearing is from Old Navy. It’s perfect for fall because it is light and can be worn with most of my outfits.
My jeans are Levi’s, and I love them! I’ve had them for years, and I really like how they fit. They go extremely well with boots. The boots that I am wearing are the new boots by Sperry. They are incredible because the inside is fleece, so not only are they fashionable, but they’re also efficient at keeping my feet warm. The scarf was a gift from New York City, and my beanie is from H&M as well. As you can see, the fun of combining all of these colors to come together as one beautiful outfit is certainly a huge part of making autumn the most enjoyable season for fashion.
It’s officially my second favorite time of the year. Autumn is here and in full swing! On my last post, I was faithfully awaiting colder weather, Starbucks lattes, and my go-to outfits consisting of sweaters and vests. But for this post, I was hit with a dilemma. Do I stick with the generic grays and warm browns (all great go-to colors) or do I get festive and dress for the occasion?
I decided to deck out my outfit and blend in with my pumpkin patch surroundings. I’m wearing my go-to orange sweater, vest, leggings and boots combo. To accessorize my outfit, I chose to wear my deep green necklace and my brown hat to block the harsh autumn sun. I purchased the sweater from H&M, the leggings from Nordstrom, the boots are Carlos Santana (Famous Footwear), and the hat was bought this summer from Urban Outfitters!
There’s just something about fall. The golden leaves, pumpkin bread, hot drinks, warm sweaters and that crisp feeling in the air. There’s nothing quite like it. Not to mention fall fashion is my absolute favorite. With layers, plaids, knits and boots, what more could you want? Nothing is better than the coziness of this season.
For this fall look, I am wearing a beige sweater dress from Böhme, which is perfect for fall weather because it is breathable yet still extremely warm. Sweaters and dresses are two of my favorite pieces of clothing, so put them together and of course I’d be a huge fan. I love how this sweater dress is classy and feminine, while still being a laid back and versatile piece. I like to wear it with a wool tank top underneath – my style secret for combatting harsh Montana weather. On even chillier days, I would probably pair this dress with some tights and a coat over the top for added warmth.
Blanket scarves are a staple in my fall wardrobe; I seriously can’t get enough of them. Not only are blanket scarves insanely warm – hello, the word blanket is in their name for a reason – but they are also so effortlessly autumnal. I can’t help but include them in most of my outfits throughout the season. The one I chose for this look is from Apricot Lane, and (confession time) I have been on the hunt for this exact scarf for about a year, after seeing fashion bloggers sporting them all over Pinterest last fall.
Lastly, I finished this look off with my silver Pandora charm bracelet, a brown vegan leather handbag, from H&M, and my favorite taupe heeled booties from Forever21.
Fall came on September 23 and is now in full force. The leaves on the trees have turned red, orange, yellow and some have stayed green. Missoula’s natural beauty gives me a lot of ideas of what to wear during this season. It’s time to push your summer clothing to the back of your closet, put your fall clothing to the front, and be ready for the most warm and cozy season of the year. Fall is here!
The style I was going for was simple, cozy and warm enough for fall. My long, beige Macy’s coat is the best thing to wear during the fall season because the colors complement each other and make it look extra chic.
I layered my red and black colored Dillard’s scarf over my coat to give it more of a fall look. I paired my red, long-sleeved Rue 21 crop top and my black high-waisted pants, also from Rue 21, which are both perfect for the fall weather. Last but not least, I wore my black, leather platform shoes, from Forever 21, to finish the look.
Is it already fall? My favorite time of the year! This season is the start to those cold nights of hot cocoa, mittens, movies and friends! Here in Missoula, we all cherish fall and the fact that it makes the entire town look stunning.
What better way to celebrate than spending time in a pumpkin patch? With the leaves changing and the gorgeous weather, it really makes me excited for the cold weather. I feel as if maroon is the perfect color for this look, because it really exaggerates the feeling of fall.
I paired my LA Harts maroon skater dress, from Pacsun, with my olive utility jacket from Apricot Lane. I am also wearing my black Pacsun hat which gives a unique look to the outfit and keeps it more chic. This look is so comfy and easy to wear for so many different occasions and is very easy to recreate!
I’m in love with both fall and fall fashion; everything is cast in a bolder shade of beautiful, but for such a brief moment of time. Fall looks good on the trees, especially the ones in Missoula. Take the deep orange, reds and greens and use them as your style inspiration. It’s so much fun to be able to get off campus and take in the beauty of fall either around town or at a local pumpkin patch!
The mid-day temperatures may be perfect, but in the morning and evenings, a jacket is essential. I threw on this Thread & Supply deep green pea-coat from Nordstrom for the right amount of warmth to keep me comfortable when the temperature dropped. Coats are definitely something that I invest in for the fall and winter, but I got a stellar deal on this coat during Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale over the summer.
For the rest of my outfit, I kept it cute but comfortable. Lace is a big trend for fall, so I paired this cream, American Eagle tank top with touches of lace with my dark jacket. I love the contrast of light and dark during fall.
Bottom-wise, I wore my current-favorite pair of jeans: these dark Kut from the Kloth jeans with light jean patches on the knees. They are just cool; perfect pants to toughen up the lace on my tank top. I braved my gray, Toms wedges to pull the outfit together, knowing that they’d be comfy enough to trudge around the pumpkin patch in.
Accessories wise, I wore simple earrings and a Forever 21 statement necklace. Overall, I was going for a dark and movable outfit to go out in, which I achieved through comfy wedges, jeans and a jacket for warmth. It was a cozy outfit that would be perfect for any fall day!
Apple Cider and Pumpkin Spice Lattes are the basic refreshments of fall. But how do you feel as warm in your outfit as your drink? Layering is the key to enjoying this lovely, sometimes chilly, time of year.
To literally kick off the season, I’m wearing my Sam & Libby light charcoal ankle boots. I can’t go a week without wearing these cute little booties at least once. The comfort level and versatility with different types of jeans made them worth a trip to JC Penney’s during Black Friday 2015.
The color cream is more popular in the fall and I love it! My cream jacket with a tan hood goes with everything for fall. I can wear it to keep warm over a maroon shirt at a Griz game or wear it at a family dinner over a white tank top. This jacket has made it through two generations of classy women in my family and I can’t wait until it goes even further down the line. It’s a great jacket to grab on the go to work or wherever you need to go.
Springing into action may be fun, but falling into autumn fashion has never felt so good. Nothing beats the chic style of warm jackets, ankle boots, and wool accessories like some of my fellow Trendsetters are wearing.
Fall means layers. Layers mean coziness. In other words: fall is one of my favorite seasons. It’s the time of year for cardigans, cozy scarves and sitting inside with a cup of hot cocoa and a lovely book.
For this look, I am wearing a printed cardigan, over a plain gray cropped t-shirt and paired with some black skinny jeans and black booties. To make this look come together, I threw on one of my favorite beige scarves, and also to add a little detail, I’m wearing my adorable wishbone necklace, a few rings and my favorite bronze cuff. So with that, embrace the fall weather and stay cozy my friends!
Regardless of the season, my style takes similar inspiration, but autumn in particular makes my constantly colorless outfits slightly more acceptable. The chill in the air that autumn brings allows for endless layering of sweaters, hats and scarves that serve the practical purpose of keeping us warm and also effortlessly complete our outfits.
For me, the brisk mornings and changing of the leaves suggest that it is time to wear the other three-fourths of my wardrobe, which gets unhappily neglected during the summer months. If the same is true for you, don’t freak out when I say that the forecast for this fall is ‘70s. I don’t mean temperature, I mean style. This fall, New York Fashion Week saw an infusion of the 1970s. The collections of everyone from BCBG Max Azria to Jill Stuart took retro inspiration including: chunky knits, high waists, high necks, fringe, suede and wide brimmed hats.
Taking cue from perhaps my favorite designer, Alexander Wang and his fall collection, I went with an all-black ensemble. I am wearing a mock-neck, knitted long-sleeve dress from H&M, paying homage to my style roots in Scandinavian minimalism. I like this dress for fall because it is not only cozy, but it is also on trend in its reminiscence of the ‘70s.
The tights are mainly for much needed warmth in the autumn months. I prefer a sheer tight to an opaque tight and in doing so sacrifice comfort for aesthetics. My shoes and hat are thrift pieces from Portland. Together they are a little witchy-chic, but we took the photos in a pumpkin patch… it seemed fitting.
The final piece is my go-to vegan-leather jacket. My moto jacket is my favorite item of clothing; I wear it constantly. I love the simplicity and versatility of a leather jacket. I usually wear it with a tee, skinnies and boots, but it can also be worn over a dress (as I did in this outfit) to keep things effortless and cool.
Take inspiration from the ‘70s this autumn. Don’t be afraid to wear one of the trends we saw on the fall runway. Choose one trendy piece and integrate it into an everyday outfit in a way that feels organic and natural to you. Mix things up with a wide brimmed hat and high-waisted midi skirt, or keep warm in a turtleneck and chunky knit. Let your style be inspired by the colors, textures and silhouettes of autumn.
It’s my favorite time of year. The air is brisk, the sun is bright, and the leaves are crisp and colorful. I’ll never get tired of walking underneath hundreds of yellow, orange, red and green leaves on my way to class. There is nothing more beautiful than a perfect fall day in Montana. It’s nature’s last hurrah before a long, cold winter, and I’m going to enjoy every last second of it. My Instagram is proof that I’m obsessed with this season. It’s filled with pictures of pumpkins, pretty leaves, blue skies and sweaters.
So many sweaters. Betty’s Divine, on the Hip Strip, has an incredible variety of sweater brands and styles. I fell in love with this Dreamers sweater and couldn’t leave the store without it. It’s incredibly warm, cozy and looks cute with comfortable skinny jeans and sandals. I accessorized this casual outfit with a pair of circular orange Romy earrings. They add a pop of color and cute detail, especially at a pumpkin patch.
Fall is finally here! Fall has always been my favorite fashion season! For this photoshoot, I was going for a dark fall look. But on some days it can definitely still be way too toasty to wear black long sleeves and dark high-waisted jeans. I chose to wear this black color because it’s comfortable and looks more dramatic on me. Wearing black is perfect for this time of season as well.
My fur vest, from Dubai UAE, is one of my favorite pieces! Fur vests look really cool and classic at the same time, which in turn makes me look classic. I just love to be more dramatic. My black and brown high heels are literally my favorite heels of all time. They are also super comfortable. I got them from Michael Kors when I was in Vegas. To pull the outfit together, I decided to wear my diamond necklace and gold rings from Tiffany’s. They are definitely my favorite accessories. I think adding simple accessories to an outfit gives it a nice touch.
Fall is here! And if the randomness of the weather made it hard to tell, our fall photo shoot should help you get the picture. At a local pumpkin patch, a slight breeze while the sun went down made for a perfect setting. I chose an outfit suit for a warmer day, but could also be worn with leggings or tights for colder weather.
I love my printed skirt from Victoria’s Secret. The fabric is light and comfortable, and fits right at the smallest part of the waist and flows outward. The option of wearing tights with it makes a skirt a great way to still dress up nice in the cold weather. I got the simple black crop top at American Eagle, as well as the gray sweater. I usually pair a crop top with a high waisted skirt, kind of like Taylor Swift’s look, because it shows just enough skin without being too revealing, or cold!
The sweater is one of my favorites, because it goes with anything. Gray is my go to color when shopping; I even had a gray prom dress last year. It’s super comfortable, and can spruce up any casual outfit. I bought the boots used from Runway Fashion Exchange. It’s the way to go for cheap shoes that are still cute! They have a small heel, which can make all the difference.
Finally, the best part of autumn, and the best accessory, is a hot Starbucks coffee! My favorite drink is a soy caramel latte, and the beginning of autumn marks the switch from iced to hot!
Fall has snuck up on us again. The air has turned brisk, the drinks are toastier, and Mother Nature has blessed us with her colorful paintbrush. The change of colors leads to a change in my own fashion persona. With more clothing coverage per square inch to cover the more inventive I try to be.
My usual staple outfit for this season is the sweater and skinny jean combo. This has changed due to epiphany of discovering high-waisted jeans. They flatter the silhouette and knock your level of confidence up a few notches. Instead of the classic denim fabric I choose to go with the practical stretchable cotton, that way I don’t feel too constricted.
I adore the pair I am wearing from Charlotte Russe mainly due to the accent of gold buttons that pop against the flat black. I added a little twist to the casual sweater trend by selecting a cropped fit from H&M. To contrast the frequent color scheme of black that I own I jazzed up this outfit with a colorful bandana. I achieved this look through a messy bun combined with the aid from a YouTube tutorial.
We can all sympathize with that one fashion piece that is always a go-to from our closet. This for me is my beat up pair of Timberland boots. I feel that their rugged character lends to my overall fall fashion vibe of versatile comfort.
A big thank you to Missoula Alliance Church for allowing us to use their lovely pumpkin patch as the perfect fall backdrop for this shoot.
