Summertime is in full swing and we are loving every minute of it. Although summer has been flying by, there’s still plenty of time left to soak up the sun and rock tons of cool summer looks. To give you a little style inspo, the Trendsetters are here to share their summer style tips while showcasing their favorite outfits of the season.
Not only am I sunshine’s #1 fan, but I’m also an advocate of eating ice cream daily and, of course, filling my wardrobe with as many sundresses as possible; therefore summer is definitely one of my favorite times of year.
I love dresses and rompers during the summer because they are so easy. You can just throw one on and you instantly look put together. This black and gray striped jersey dress from American Eagle is one of my favorites because it’s extremely versatile and flattering at the same time. It’s also basically a nightgown in comfort level, which is a huge plus in my book. I’ve recently been all about neutrals as well, so this dress has become a staple piece in my wardrobe for the summer.
Hats are my favorite way to add interest to an outfit in the summertime. Since it’s often scorching hot during Montana summers, layering can get tricky. Therefore, hats are my BFF. This floppy tan felt hat is from World Market, and fun fact, the cashier gave me a discount because he was a fan of the color. I absolutely love the way it elevates an outfit, pulling a look together while simultaneously being a pal on those bad hair days,
Lately I’ve been all about delicate jewelry. Not only does it add a dainty, feminine touch to your look, but it’s also lighter and more comfortable in the heat. This gold “hello” necklace is from Bohme and I’ve been loving the whimsy it brings to every outfit.
I’m finishing this look off with these brown huarache sandals from Target. I got these sandals years ago, and I love them because they are incredibly comfortable, versatile and the texture adds a fun pop to any look. And I’m not even kidding when I say that I literally get compliments on these sandals whenever I wear them, so shoutout to Target for that little ego boost!
Being a ‘summer baby’ means that I love the warm weather and everything that goes along with it–most importantly, an awesome summer wardrobe. Now, I’m known for wearing mostly black, even in warm weather, but I like to spice things up with more exciting colors- like white. Okay, maybe it’s not that exciting, but for me it is!
I am very laid-back in the summer and I like to keep my outfits really simple; basically, as long as it keeps me cool, but still looking stylish, then it’s perfect. To start each ensemble, I pick one statement piece to be the focus; for this look I chose this beautiful crocheted lace tank top. The delicate lace draws attention but isn’t overwhelming- plus it’s so comfortable and really lightweight!
I wanted my shorts to contrast with the top so that it would remain the center of attention, so I chose these classic, black shorts. This pair of shorts goes with any top and can be dressed up or down so easily! Perfect for a night out, or just going to brunch with friends.
I wanted this look to be a little more dressed up than casual, so I chose my trusty black booties rather than sandals. These are great because they give just about an inch of height, but they’re so comfortable to wear.
Last, but not least, is my black floppy hat. This has been a staple for me all summer, and this outfit was no exception. This hat is my favorite accessory; it classes up every single outfit and keeps the sun out of my eyes when I don’t want to bother with sunglasses.
This look is easy to replicate, and so perfect for hot summer weather!
Summer sun is chasing those winter blues away, but I kept my favorite shade around. Navy blue is one of my favorite summertime colors, and it looks amazing on pretty much everyone.
My cotton sundress by Converse is a new favorite in my warm weather wardrobe. It’s simple, comfy, cute, and versatile. What more do you need?
I paired it with one of my favorite pieces, my YMI denim jacket. I love this jacket and believe that every girl needs one! I pair this jacket with dresses, tanks, blouses, everything; and it’s light enough that I can wear it and not cook myself on a warm day, while also protecting my arms from sunburns. It’s great because it quickly dresses down any outfit, creating a fun and casual look- even if you just got off work.
For shoes I went with a simple sandal with a big navy blue bow. I got them at Cracker Barrel from their nautical line. I usually don’t wear open-toed shoes, but I just thought these were irresistible. The bow adds a girlish flare and keeps the outfit trendy.
Now, usually I’d have put in a bright statement piece, but I didn’t for this look. If you wanted to add something to an outfit like this, there are so many options! Bright red adds a big flare and really makes you stand out, while yellows and whites pair really well with this shade of blue to pull it all together. Spice it up with some pinks or oranges to really change up the look and catch a couple glances.
My hair is curly, so I usually just put in some mousse or hair gel and dry it with a diffuser! This style is super easy and works for long or short hair. Excellent for a quick updo and works for formal and casual events. Play it up by leaving it a little loose and messy or pull it nice and tight for a more mature, put together look- the choice is yours.
For my makeup, I went for that summer simplicity. Some light contouring to bring out my cheekbones, a warm gold/brown eye shadow blend to bring out my brown eyes and also keep a more natural look, then a bold color. Lips also stayed pretty muted with a shade almost identical to my natural lip color, just adding a little shimmer.
I love simple in summer. And with an outfit this basic, it’s so easy to play around with and really express your style using different accessories and makeup to show off who you are. So, although the winter blues have finally melted, my navy blue is definitely sticking around for the summer.
Summer is everybody favorite season. You get to feel the heat, school’s off, and mostly you get hang out with your friends and do a lot of stuff together. Some people wear bright clothes for summer, some go darker, but I mostly like to wear a mix of the two. For this photoshoot I decided to go with my favorite attire, my long-sleeve plaid shirt from TJ Maxx that has LA Los Angeles on the back, which I wrapped around my waist.
I’m also wearing a pair of high waisted jeans from Forever 21 and my Hollister T-shirt, which is black and white to match the letters on plaid shirt. To top off my look I decided to wear my black Nike air max shoes from the Nike store. As for my hairstyle, I just straightened it and then curled the bottom tips of my hair. This is definitely my go-to look for the summer that I love to wear.
Summer… what a great season. The weather is sunny, the lake is warm, and last but not least- swimming! In the summer I like to switch my styles every day. Some days I like to be edgy, some girly, some casual, or sometimes even a skater girl. In this photo shoot I chose a look that was somewhat of a casual skater girl style. I love summer in Montana because we get to have a summer vacation from school, and hang out with friends and go tubing, surfing, or swimming on the lake.
Anyway, for this shoot I am wearing a white shirt from H&M, which is nice and light, keeping me cool in the heat. My shoes are from Dillard’s, and are super comfortable to wear all year round. The jeans are from Hollister and are perfect for any occasion- no matter the weather.
As for what I wear during the summer, I usually I stick to short shorts and tank tops.
For this shoot I chose a pair of Hollister high-rise short shorts paired with a Forever 21 crop top. This outfit works for me because I enjoy being very active during summer, so I want to be wearing something that I can do anything in. The last thing I want is to have the urge to do a cartwheel or a handstand and not be able to due to what I am wearing.
I love wearing plain shirts because it gives my accessories a chance to shine. For this shoot I went with a multi-chain gold necklace that is also from Hollister.
This look is fairly simple and easy to play around with!
Wishing you all many more wonderful summer days. Have fun, be safe, be stylin’.
