90’s Babies

Group shot on and around a table in the bowling alley

It’s 2018. You know what that means: all 90’s babies are over 18. So, in honor of our last class of freshman born in the 90’s, we give you: 90’s nostalgia in the form of fashion and adorable baby photos.

I’m a 90’s baby!

I was born in 1995 and I am glad to have been born in this year because there were so many fun things that I got to do in my childhood. In the 90’s we didn’t have cell phones to take pictures with like what kids today have, where they can get picture so easy by using their own phone.

I still remember that in order to get a family picture or a full body picture of me, my parents brought me and my siblings every Saturday night to the park close to my house and got talented photographers to take pictures of us.  It was fun for me because I could hangout with my parents at that time. I don’t have many pictures from my childhood, but I am glad that my mom still kept this picture of mine, which is the only one that I have that shows my childhood style. For this shoot, I wanted my outfit to be similar to my childhood outfit in this picture.

I’ve been looking for this outfit for two weeks before the Trendsetters shoot…hahaha

This is because I was just so excited about this 90’s shoot. After the first Trendsetters meeting, I went home and checked all my closets for clothes that match the outfit in this picture of mine. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything like that. I decided to go to the mall to shop. Finally, I ended up at Runway Fashion Exchange which is a thrift store in Missoula, MT. How lucky I am, when I got there, Runway Fashion was having a big sale and I got these 90’s style jeans for a dollar. I also got my belt and my shirt that look almost the same as my childhood photo from there, and they were $4 each.  I really love this 90’s style and I think I would like to keep this style for my personal style. This style for me just looks so amazing and I will wear more long pants jeans from now and in the future

Hello Trendsetters! I was so excited for this shoot and the location couldn’t have been better. Overall, my favorite part about the entire shoot was hanging out with everyone and actually bowling! I felt like a kid all over again and I was super happy to have gotten some stellar pictures out of it as well!

My outfit was inspired by some classic 90’s television, namely Saved by the Bell and Hey Arnold!. Both shows have such classic fashion, and I really wanted to wear a sweater over a colorful flannel. I was especially inspired by the bright, bold colors of the 90’s, and I think our photographer Aleks did a wonderful job capturing all of those arcade vibes.

Another interesting fact about my look is that it was all thrifted from Goodwill! I got every piece from a Goodwill back in Chicago where I’m from and I couldn’t be happier as to how well it all goes together. The sweater is by far my favorite part of the outfit because it just has so much personality all on its own, from the paneled sleeves to the custom embroidery, it really is a one- of-a- kind piece.

Overall, I think everyone looked incredible, and I hope that you all enjoy our outfits as much as we enjoyed putting them together! Thanks again, and Happy Trendsetting!

Ah wow this photoshoot made me totally nostalgic for the good old days of when I would actually wear sweatshirts that had insane color combinations on them and just sing along to Barney and Friends all day (but only for 30 minutes because I wasn’t allowed to have more TV time).

My outfit for this shoot was inspired by my love for purple (also again because of Barney) when I was little as well as the crazy colors I used to always wear, although the purple one I am wearing in these photos is a much milder version. I picked this super cute sweatshirt up while I was thrifting at Goodwill about a year or so ago. Something really made me love it and now I realize it’s because of my childhood. I paired the sweatshirt with some high waited pants that had a tiny bit of an acid wash pattern to make it feel even more 90s and went with wearing my good old Converse to complete the look.

Growing up during the 90s was sure an amazing and colorful adventure and it is crazy to me that this year could be our last batch of people who were born in the 90s… I’m so happy we decided to recreate this awesome time in our lives and see how much our styles have changed throughout the years, it was so so much fun!

Long live 90s babies!

The 90s. While yes, we were all babies or toddlers in the 90s, this freshman class and next will be the last of those born in that iconic decade! Pretty sure I was the oldest 90s baby at this photoshoot, which makes me feel ancient! We decided to celebrate hair scrunchies, mom jeans, overalls, and chokers in the most 90s place we could dream up… the bowling alley and arcade!

I had to use this photoshoot as an excuse to break out my denim overalls from ASOS (not that I need an excuse to wear these babies). I wish they had a slightly slimmer leg so I wouldn’t feel quite so much like a farmer, but I’m still pretty in love with them. I paired them with some white knock-off converse from Target, a baseball tee from American Eagle, a flannel tied around my waist (also from AE), and a hair scrunchie!

The 90’s. What a time to be alive. At least I think it was. I was born in 1997 so I got a very limited idea of what the 90’s really were, but I do watch a lot of 90s television so from what I can tell the jeans were great, the slang ridiculous and the latin-pop music scene hotter than ever. Again, what a time to be alive. As far as fashion goes, I find that my own personal style is heavily influenced by the 90’s in my day to day life, so this shoot was a blast and a half. Big man sweater from an exchange store in Washington? Check. Mom jeans from Top Shop? Check. Plain, white Reeboks from Urban Outfitters? Check. Black belt I stole from my Dad when I was a senior in High School? Check. I’ve owned all of these things in my closet for the last year and have paired them together often. So when it came to putting an outfit together for this shoot I wanted to wear something less “costumey” and instead go for an outfit I wear in my daily life. So that’s my look. 90’s on, Grizzlies.

Being a freshman in college that was born in the last year of the 90s is crazy to think about. I was just a baby when all of this fun fashion came to be. So for this fun 90s photo shoot I decided to wear my simple light pink tie up shirt with a jean jacket, both from American Eagle. I chose to wear my favorite dark blue jean jeggings from Dillard’s and my high black boot heels from H&M!

Ah yes, the 90s’. A simpler time, filled with snap bracelets and reruns of Saved by the Bell. I
love 90s’ fashion, and I love that 90s’ fashion trends are coming back in style. I never got to fully appreciate the windbreakers, chokers, and mom jeans of the 90s’ in all their glory.

I’ve found that the majority of my style now is heavily influenced by 90s’ fashion, so this shoot was so so fun! I love rocking some Baby Spice pigtails any day of the year, and this was no exception. It’s such a cute look and I’ll always be here for it. And scrunchies? Yes please!

I really tried to channel my inner Rachel Green with my outfit. I’m finally getting back into the Mom Jean trend. These ones, from American Eagle, are so cute and so flattering. The cut of a mom jean hugs curves and stays relaxed, and they are so comfortable too.

I’ve always been a big fan of layering my clothes. I think it’s such a cute look, and let’s face it, a black spaghetti strap/white sleeve combo is full on 90s’, how can you go wrong?

Who doesn’t love 90s fashion? I feel like 90’s inspired fashion just keeps coming back year after year after year. I am a 90’s baby and very fond of (most) 90’s fashion so I was particularly excited about the theme of this shoot. I had a feeling a lot of people were going to go with the high waisted jeans and scrunchie type look, which is a lovely look I might add, but I wanted to go with a more 90’s grunge look because that more so fits my personal style. I’ve always enjoyed edgier looks. I like to dress (a lot) cooler than I actually am. For this outfit I went with my favorite black overall dress from H&M paired with this awesome yellow sweater thrift store find. Honestly, thrifting is one of my favorite things. You can find a lot of unique, not to mention cheaper, finds for your wardrobe. I also am wearing some ripped up heart design tights, also from H&M… I feel like sometimes I’m a walking H&M ad with how much of my wardrobe consists of their clothes these days. For shoes I went with some classic black converse – high tops of course! And lastly, it wouldn’t be a 90’s grunge look without a choker. There you have it folks, my 90’s grunge look! I feel like this look is super fun with a little bit of edge!

Oh the 90’s. One of the best style eras so far, in my opinion. There are so many pieces that came out of this time that I freakin’ love still today.  My favorite 90’s piece that I have are my mom jeans, which I got from Goodwill. Mom jeans are the best jeans, don’t try to fight me on that because you will lose. For this shoot I paired my jeans with a multicolored sweater I got from Target. Along with this I wore my favorite white Superga sneakers which I also bought at Target. To me, having only been a young kiddo back in the days of the 90’s, this outfit reminded me of the fun colorful outfits I used to wear all the time as a kid. This look is comfortable and functional while still looking cute. The 90’s were a wonderful time for fashion and I hope the trends from that time stick around for much longer. #90sbaby5ever

I am all about the 90’s look that’s coming back! I think everyone has a few pieces in their wardrobe that they could wear to rock the 90s look! For this look I went with a collared button up dress that I got from a thrift store! I get all the Rachel Green feels in this dress and I love it! I picked it up at thrift store but it originally was from Gap. I threw over a vintage Levi’s jacket that I got at a flee market in Paris! You can find these denim jackets at lots a of thrift shops. Denim is just so perfect for 90’s so I had to add it in this look. I put on my Adidas tennis shoes. I would have gone with Keds but I don’t own any so I worked with what I had! I didn’t have a lot of pictures from the 90’s because I was born in ‘98 so these are a few from my short two years in the 90’s!
