5 Gym Outfits I’m Sportin’ This Semester

By Bailey Veitenheimer

It’s so important to include working out as part of a healthy lifestyle, so who says we can’t feel cute and confident while doin’ it?! Here are my top five outfits to rock during your next sweat sesh. (And check out my nutrition Insta @baileysplate for more health/fitness tips!)

1. Joggers + Classic Chucks

Fact #1 about yo girl Bailey Veit: I love a good jogger pant.  There’s nothin’ better than a cute and comfy piece of clothing, so joggers have become a staple for me! Joggers are perfect to wear on a day when you aren’t hitting the cardio too hard. I got this pair from Target (aka the Motherland) and I paired them with a vintage band tee which I cut off myself! I hate baggy shirts that get in the way when I’m trying to workout, so cropping shirts yourself is something I’ve found to be super helpful! I added a pair of classic Chucks because they’re a little edgy and work perfectly when you aren’t doing anything that requires a lot of foot support. For the final addition to this look, I tied a flannel around my waist (Bonus: this works well if you’re ever conscious about people looking at your booty in the gym too!)

 2. Sheer Top + Snazzy Sports Bra

I am absolutely obsessed with mesh tops this year so of course I couldn’t help but throw one on for this look! I got the top from Hollister and paired it with a tie dye sports bra I picked up from T.J. Maxx.  It’s the perfect amount of pizazz without feeling too scandalous.  To keep with the purple color scheme, I wore my purple leggings (Kyodan brand) which I also got from T.J. Maxx.  I have discovered that you can find great workout leggings for about twenty bucks at T.J. Maxx if it’s not in your budget to drop the big bucks on Lulu all the time!  As you’ll see in this post, I wear a hat with most of my gym outfits because, not only are they cute, but they can hide a bad hair day (which I may or may not frequently have…) All of the caps I’m wearing in this post were actually from Walmart! For accessories that don’t need to be high quality, I’m not ashamed to peruse the aisles of Wally World.  As a final touch, I decided to wear classic black Nike’s which are basically essential for anyone who works out a lot!

3.  Tied Tank + Open Back

One of my favorite types of tops for working out is an open back tank! They keep you cool and are the perfect way to show off a cute sports bra!  As I pointed out earlier, I’m a big believer in the crop top life so another tip I recommend trying out is tying your longer tops in a front knot if you don’t want to crop them!  The leggings I’m wearing (90 Degree by Reflex brand) as well as the sports bra were also picked up at T.J. Maxx! I usually don’t wear too bright of colors but athleisure is the perfect opportunity to wear pieces that pop. The shoes are a simple slip on boat shoe which are great to have because they match everything!

4. Zip Up + Statement Legging

As you can tell by this post, I tend to go for solid colors in my workout attire, but these leggings reeled me in right when I saw ’em! They were a Target purchase and I paired them with an oversize Nike zip up. Oversize sweatshirts are perfect for us cold weather gals. But, if you’re going to wear a statement legging, it’s important to pair them with solid colors so you don’t overpower the look! This is why I went with a simple color scheme for both my shoes and crop top underneath. The crop top was actually a purchase from Amazon! I got four of them in the set for just $3 each. God bless Amazon for us broke college kids.As you can tell by this post, I tend to go for solid colors in my workout attire, but these leggings reeled me in right when I saw ’em! 5. Crop Sweatshirt + Cozy Vest

For this look, I decided to stray away from my love for athletic leggings *tears up*.  Instead, I decided to go with a pair of athletic shorts (Danskin brand).  I paired them with one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe which is this sweatshirt I picked up from Goodwill! I also cropped this myself ‘cuz I was feel in crafty.  For a little something extra, I put on a vest I purchased from Hollister and added a matching cap.  For shoes, I went with my other pair of staple gym shoes, my white Nikes.  I picked these babies up new at Goodwill for just $3.99! Just goes to show what deals you can find if you search in the right places!
